The paintings of Angelo Mariano find their inspiration in a symbiotic
relationship between the shapes suggested by nature and abstraction.
The trees, with the intricate movements of their branches show us
infinite lines of rhythm; the texture of their bark bears witness
to nature's effects and the passing of time.
The artist has been drawing since childhood and, after receiving
a degree with honors in Philosophy at the University of Bologna,
he moved to New York in 2000 to pursue a professional career as
a visual artist.
"Painting gives me the possibility to add a visual side
to the philosophical considerations that interest me. It is a way
of suggesting without defining; it is a game that involves the author
and the viewer with a freedom that goes beyond the rigidity of words.
As an artist I feel like my cat, I express myself without any need
for translation".
Angelo Mariano has been studying painting from 2001 to 2005 at The
Art Students League of New York. In 2003 he won a grant for two
months of study at the Marchutz School in Aix-en-Provence, France,
and in 2004 he received a Merit Scholarship at The Art Students
League. In 2005 he was selected with another student to represent
the Art Students League at a national art competition at the National
Art Club of New York.
His painting is now a cover for Raimondo
Salomone's book "Peace Be With You"
published by PublishAmerica available in the bookstores January,
2007.
Two
of Angelo Mariano's paintings were selected and now exhibited at
100 Wall Street through RobinWilsonHome
ARTLOAN Program (now through June 2008).
He
has been exhibiting his work in group shows in Japan, Europe and
USA, receiving and increasing interest from the public.
His large etchings and monotypes are successfully Sold by the GOGA,
Gallery of Graphic Arts of New York. His works are in corporate
and private collections in Europe, Canada and the USA and in the
Collections of Prints of the Public Library of New York. |
